Be transformed by the renewing
of your mind.
Romans 12:2

Practicing gratitude individually or as a family strengthens bonds, improves communication, and creates a more positive and supportive environment. This practice enhances emotional well-being by increasing resilience, optimism, and overall happiness while decreasing stress, anxiety, and depression. It also fosters empathy and a greater appreciation for one another.

MEET DR. DEBBIE HARNOIS

Deborah A. Harnois, PhD, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and retired school counselor. Throughout her career in education, Dr. Debbie—as she was affectionately known by her students—provided compassionate care and practical support in areas such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, emotional regulation, self-esteem, college and career decision-making, and coping with change.

Now in private practice, Dr. Debbie continues to work with children and teens, but she has expanded her services to support women of all ages. Her counseling approach focuses on the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—helping clients grow in self-awareness, build self-esteem, and develop practical tools for lasting, positive change.

Dr. Debbie understands that everyone faces challenges. Life can be demanding, unpredictable, and overwhelming—and when you’re feeling stuck, discouraged, or unsure of how to move forward, it’s important to know you’re not alone. Support is available, and healing is possible.

You are the expert of your own life, and effective therapy honors that truth. Dr. Debbie takes a collaborative, client-centered approach, working with you to create personalized goals that reflect your values, priorities, and vision for the future. Throughout your work together, she will check in regularly to review your goals and ensure that therapy continues to meet your evolving needs.

Dr. Debbie primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach focused on identifying unhelpful thought patterns, challenging distortions, and developing healthier, more balanced ways of thinking.

For clients who wish to integrate Christian faith into their counseling experience, Dr. Debbie offers a Christian-integrative approach. This combines CBT strategies with biblical principles, faith-based values, and spiritual practices in a gentle and client-guided manner. Integration is always optional and based entirely on your comfort level and preferences. Clients may choose to include—or not include—Christian elements at any time.

In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dr. Debbie also provides the Strategic Trauma & Abuse Recovery System (STARS) and Play Therapy, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the individual. Her approach creates a safe, supportive, and faith-informed environment where clients can heal and grow at their own pace.
